Our colt starting program blends the fundamentals of reined cowhorse training in the arena with real outside experience, sorting cattle, pen work, and miles on the ranch. This balance creates confident, willing colts that are set up for any direction you choose.

What's include in the 90-Day Start

Arena Foundation
Soft feel and responsiveness in the snaffle.
Correct footwork, body control, and forward mind.
Introduction to reined cow horse fundamental training; stops, turns, circles, and cow sense.

Outside Miles
Introduction to Ranch work in controlled settings; sorting cattle, pen work, gathering
Riding through pastures, canyons, and varied terrain
Confidence-building under real pressure, managed with safety in mind

Daily Handling & Care
Feed included: high-quality alfalfa cubes, grass hay, and Bluebonnet feed
Grooming & bathing: horses are handled daily, bathed regularly, and kept clean
Health management: treatment of scrapes, cuts, and minor injuries is included. Access to the 6666's veterinarian clinic when needed. (Extra vet care billed seperately)
Routine exposure: handling for farrier visits, trailering, and consistent grooming to build trust
Farrier Work: Every six weeks.

Client Experience
Progress updates: video updates provided every 2 weeks so you can track your colt’s development
Open-door visits: clients are welcome to visit and watch rides. (Lessons can be made available)
Clear communication: honest assessments of your colt’s progress, strengths, and areas of focus
Post-program transition: guidance for continuing your colt’s education.. We offer additional training, this is where your horse with go further in depth and gain a solid foundation.

Outside Miles with Purpose – Once those fundamentals are solid, we give them jobs: sorting, pen work, and miles in real ranch country. This isn’t random riding—it’s controlled exposure that teaches them to think under pressure.
Balanced Pace – We apply pressure with purpose and release at the right time. Your colt learns confidence, not fear. This balance is what makes our horses trainable, willing, and safe.
Holistic Care – From quality feed and regular grooming and handling, your colt is treated like one of ours. A horse that feels good, performs better.
Owner Connection – With bi-weekly video updates and open-door visits, you’re part of the process. You’ll see your colt progress, understand their strengths, and know exactly what they’re ready for when they come home.
